Cohn & Wolfe named a finalist for two Silver Anvil Awards

New York – March 23, 2010 – Cohn & Wolfe and its client RadioShack has been named a finalist in two categories in the 2010 Silver Anvil Awards, the prestigious annual awards program of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The “Educating Consumers Through the Digital Television Transition” campaign garnered nominations in the Technology categories: “Marketing Consumer Products” and “Marketing Consumer Services.” The campaign was also recently named “Community Relations Campaign of the Year” by PRWeek in their annual awards program.

When American broadcasting officially transitioned from analog to digital on June 12, 2009, an estimated 70 million people who owned analog television sets were at risk of losing their signals because they were uninformed or had not taken the necessary steps.  RadioShack partnered with Cohn & Wolfe to conduct a national consumer awareness and education campaign leading up to the transition which would extend RadioShack’s reputation as a trusted neighborhood electronics advisor and generate sales of converter boxes and related DTV accessories at RadioShack.

The Silver Anvil, symbolizing the forging of public opinion, is awarded annually to organizations that have successfully addressed a contemporary issue with exemplary professional skill, creativity and resourcefulness. Winners will be announced on June 3 in New York City.
