Cohn & Wolfe Expands in Latin America, Launching Its Fourth Office in Brazil

New Office to Serve Brands in the Technology Hub of Belo Horizonte
In Minas Gerais, Brazil’s Third Largest State Economy

New York/São Paulo – August 16, 2017 – Cohn & Wolfe, a global communications agency, today announced further expansion in Brazil with the opening of a new office in Belo Horizonte, the capital city of Minas Gerais. This is the agency’s fourth location in Brazil, including offices in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and the country’s capital city of Brasília. Under the Máquina Cohn & Wolfe brand, the agency is growing by double digits in the country, working with a mix of domestic and global brands across the consumer, corporate, technology and healthcare sectors.
“Belo Horizonte is an important market for our agency’s continued expansion in Latin America. Its dynamic economy, comprised of a mix of technology start-ups and established multinational companies, makes it a key location for a wide array of consumer and corporate brands,” said Donna Imperato, Chief Executive Officer, Cohn & Wolfe. “Our Brazil team has the talent and expertise to provide integrated communications solutions to the multitude of local and global companies doing business in and around this exciting city.”
With an annual GDP of R$516 billion (USD$164 billion), Minas Gerais is Brazil’s third largest state economy, behind the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Belo Horizonte, the state capital and the heart of its technology sector, has the highest density of technology companies and entrepreneurs in Brazil. Belo Horizonte is also the only city in South America with a Google Engineer Lab.
“It is an exciting time for Máquina Cohn & Wolfe to be in Belo Horizonte, as there has never been higher demand for our integrated communications offering than there is now,” said Marcelo Diego, CEO, Máquina Cohn & Wolfe. “We look forward to continuing to grow our presence in this lively city filled with incredible talent and opportunity.”
Cohn & Wolfe took a majority stake in Grupo Máquina (now Máquina Cohn & Wolfe), one of Brazil’s largest and most widely respected public relations agencies, in January 2016. Since then, Máquina Cohn & Wolfe has expanded, including a 40% increase in digital business.
“I could not be prouder of Diego and his team at Máquina Cohn & Wolfe. Since joining our agency just a year and a half ago, they have quickly immersed themselves in our brand ethos and propelled the agency to even greater heights,” added Imperato.
Named Best PR Agency in Brazil four times at the prestigious Comunique-se Awards, Máquina Cohn & Wolfe was the first Brazilian PR agency to sign the UN Global Compact Initiative and is the only public relations agency to belong to Endeavor, an international organization that supports entrepreneurship. The agency's extensive roster of clients includes Microsoft, Bridgestone, Airbnb, Credit Suisse, BASF, General Mills, BMW and Ambev.
