The 2009 Green Brands Survey
The Green Brands study, conducted by WPP companies Cohn & Wolfe, Landor Associates and Penn, Schoen & Berland, explores consumer attitudes and perceptions towards green issues. The 2009 study, which also includes consultation from Esty Environmental Partners, surveyed nearly 6,000 people in seven countries - Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, US, and UK - and ranks 335 brands. From the state of the environment to purchasing intent of green products, ingredients, advertising, NGOs and what it means for a company to be “green,” the study reveals that while many environmental beliefs and behaviors are shared across different consumer cultures, others vary widely.
